How the World Works - A new resource for Transition Year
An topical new transition unit entitled 'How the World Works' has been developed by the Debt and Development Coalition Ireland in accordance with NCCA guidelines on writing a transition unit. Many of the topics will be of interest to Geography, History and Religion teachers such as mapping our world, images of the Global South, trade, aid, debt, power and powerlessness, and ideas on action for change.
The teachers' resource materials are accompanied by a CD with useful PowerPoints. The active learning methodologies and project work make this a student-friendly and engaging resource for Transition Year.
Teachers who piloted this Unit last year had this to say.....
'It is great to get a resource like this that is so well structured and provides everything a teacher needs to teach about development issues. And at the same time it allows great flexibility and scope for students to pursue areas of particular interest. My students loved it.' Clonmel teacher
'We used this resource to team teach about development issues last year and we liked the way the resource provided lots of cross curricular opportunities for learning.' Dublin teacher
